Apple Orchard Barbeque Sauce

A friend gave me this recipe, on a tag attched to a bottle of the sauce. It's a great gift idea.

1 med. onion, grated
4 c. pressed apple cider
1/2 c. cider vinegar
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 tbsp whole mustard seed
1 tsp celery salt or seed
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp liquid smoke
2 (12 oz) bottle chili sauce

Bring all to boil in large saucepan. Reduce heat. Simmer until thickened and reduced by half. Pour hot sauce into 2 one pint, sterilized jars. Seal with sterilized lids. Water-bath process for 10 minutes. Remove with tongs. Cool.

Sauce is great for basting chicken, pork, and ribs.
